A Window Rule is a program that you have set up to behave a certain way. These programs are listed on the left side of Configuration window.
You can add almost any program to this list, and then configure it to behave in a variety of ways and with a variety of window management features. You can permanently save your changes and then change them as often as you wish.
Use the following steps to create a new Window Rule for a specific program:
1. First, look and see if there is already a Window Rule listed for your program. If there is, and it has a check in the box, you can change the rule by clicking on its name. The Configuration Menu appears.
2. If no check is in the box, you can still edit its configuration, but the rule and changes made won't be active until you check the box in the listing on the left side.
3. If the program is not listed at all, then click the "Create Window Rule" button on the toolbar or select the Create Rule command from the Window Rule menu. Either way gets the same results.
To identify the new programs, you use the "Finder Tool". The Finder Tool looks like a little rotating fan or a gunsight marker:
1. Open a program that you want to have new visual features.
2. Now drag the Finder Tool over the title bar at the top of that program's window to select it, then release the mouse button.
Finally, select desired options.
We recommend you give every new Window Rule an informative name so you can find and identify this rule among others on the list.
That's it! You're done! Experiment all you want until each program has the new features that you want. Just be sure to save your work each time!
Finally, and very important: You need to go to the File Menu and push "Save" or select the diskette and press it in order to see your changes and then to save them.
Note: Existing windows will be updated after few seconds.

The Default Window Rule lets you define and apply new options to ALL the windows in your system, so you don't need to create a new Window Rule for each program.
2. How does the Default Window Rule work?
When a new window appears in your system, %appname% immediately tries to find a specific Window Rule for this new window. If %appname% successfully finds a specific Window Rule, it will apply the options from that specific rule.
On the other hand, if no specific Window Rule is found for the window, %appname% applies the Default Window Rule.
You can exclude some types of windows and programs. If you do that, the Default Window Rule will not have any effect.
